Nothing will stop Hurstpierpoint Open Gardens from raising its donation to St. Peter and St. James' Hospice in 2020 - not even a global virus!
This year, it maybe a little different but imagine - a Hurstpierpoint Open Gardens where you can make a nice cup of tea, raid your cake tin, put your feet up and let the camera do the walking for you.
You can stay safe at home and enjoy beautiful guided tours of no less than 11 Hurstpierpoint gardens from the comfort of your favourite chair Each garden film is about 5 minutes long so you'll get 55 minutes of pure garden heaven of all varieties.
We’ve been opening gardens in Hurstpierpoint to raise money for our local St Peter and St James Hospice since 2014, and every year we have raised thousands of pounds – last year was our best year ever, with over £9,000 donated to the Hospice.
We’re really concerned that the Hospice is facing a shortfall of over £1 million this year, because so many fundraising activities are being cancelled. So we’ve decided to run a virtual open gardens event. We’re aiming to launch this in June.
We’re making 11 short films, each showing a beautiful garden in Hurstpierpoint. You will have the opportunity to see the film of all 11 gardens for a minimum donation of £5. All funds raised go to the Hospice so we are hoping that everyone will give generously - especially this year.
We have had 12 wonderful local businesses which have come forward to sponsor individual films.. THANK YOU each one of you and, of course Freeman Funeral Brothers, the event sponsors and Richard Paice who filmed the gardens and Tom Saitch who edited and filmed our teaser!
PS - if you are looking for a present for someone in lockdown - for birthday, thank you or just to cheer them up - why not make a donation for them and then give them the link as a present from you. Now that is different present guaranteed to brighten any day.
